This painting was inspired by a time in my life where I felt I was more committed to a relationship than my counterpart. It's sort of speaks about when you take that step forward with someone but they don't. Not only do you get burned but you continue to get burned because you committed to the lighter. In this painting, she is in that perpetual state of love and agony because it is one sided.
